04/08/05 - Performance Update Newsletter - April
Performances of several portfolios derived from two
published and well known trading strategies are updated and the reports are presented. The tests were conducted using
PortfolioStream 5 and TradeStation 8 on the same set of North American futures markets used in the previous test described
in the previous Performance Update for October, 2004. The strategies all yielded poor performance in varying degrees since
August 2004. Interestingly the strategies that used channels based on standard deviation bands as the entry and exit signals
in general did worse than those that used simple N period highs and lows for purposes of creating the channels. To read more

10/01/01 - Selector Toolbox Release
Rank all Nasdaq 100 stocks by a weighted 1 and 3 month momentum (and you can create any formula for momentum that you want). Then test buying the stock if its ranked in the top 20 % for momentum and is making a new 10 day high on volume that is at least 50% greater than the average daily volume (again use any entry or exit logic that you can create in easy Language).
Rank a group of sector mutual funds based on their 30-day return. In addition, use a volatility expansion entry technique to enter trades and a trailing stop based on average true range to limit risk (again this is just an example, you are limited only by your imagination to create signal logic). Then enter long if the mutual fund is ranked in the top 5 for the 30-day return and simultaneously trigger your volatility entry criteria.
These are just a few examples. By now you can probably imagine the hundreds or possibly thousands of ideas that could integrate ranking concepts with traditional trading systems. Click HERE to learn more about Selector Pro Toolbox.
08/01/01 - A New Web Site for TradeStation Products and Services
RINA Systems launched www.TradeStationZone.com - the world's first e-commerce exchange for products and services for active and technical traders. It is a single source for traders that use TradeStation and related products and services. Until now, TradeStation users had to search for tools they needed in many different places with many products not even listed anywhere on the internet. It was difficult to know what is available for traders that would like to use a certain analysis tool or develop their own code for their strategy. With the release of TradeStation Pro® by TradeStation Technologies the need for an open source of information and exchange became even more apparent. Now there is a single source of information about TradeStation products and services, their benefits, features and prices. Users can exchange opinions, ask a question regarding a product, service or a vendor. Unlike a magazine or catalog, TradeStationZone presents an open forum for traders to communicate with each other and vendors.
The site offers products, services, news, resources, ideas, articles, reports, systems, signals, indicators, data, books, videos, newsletters, seminars and many other things from vendors all over the world. Unlike individual companies' web sites TradeStationZone acts as an exchange. TradeStationZone enables traders get the information they need, discuss their problems and get answers, publish articles, or other information, review software or any other product as well as inquire about a product or service.

capital.

returns calculated from fixed capital.

Expanded portfolio editing capabilities. You can now add together several
entire portfolios with the click of a button. You can also delete entire
categories for easy database maintenance.
New performance reporting ! Now you can see the percentage of year, months,
weeks, and days that were profitable for any system or portfolio. Also,
returns are reported based on a constant account size (as opposed to
compounded returns). Finally, the Semi Deviation Sharpe ratio has been added
for those who wish to view the performance looking only at downside return
variation
03/01/2001 - RINA Systems has released PortfolioStream, a new portfolio testing and
optimization platform for TradeStation users.
PortfolioStream gives
TradeStation users the ability to test large baskets of stocks, futures, or
indexes across several trading system inputs in a completely automated
environment. It supports the creation of custom baskets composed of any
securities for which the user has data. Studies of systems run across large
baskets of securities generate reports for each system market combination
and each portfolio which are then saved into a database for easy retrieval
and viewing. Saved reports can be filtered and sorted for user defined
performance criteria to find desirable strategies and portfolios. After
building portfolios, users can choose from an array of money management
strategies to test portfolios with different position size and
capitalizations. PortfolioStream's 3D graphing capabilities allow users to
view trading system results across multiple inputs over many securities in a
single picture to find robust strategies.
01/29/2001 - Performance Suite 2000 is now compatible with TradeStation Pro.
The Disk Icon in TradeStation Strategy Performance Report that enables users
to seamlessly save information for use in Portfolio Evaluator 2000 and Money
Manager 2000 has been included in the most recent release of the
TradeStation Pro. This is accomplished by saving files under the Portoflio
Evaluator xml file format which is an option when the disk icon is selected.
Because the new feature is distributed through the internet, the disk icon
for saving performance information will automatically appear in your version
of TradeStation Pro when you log on. This insures that the current version
of Performance Suite is compatible with all three Y2K compliant versions of
TradeStation, including version 4, 2000i, and TradeStation Pro. In later
versions we expect to have seamless integration with the Blue Target Icon on
the Strategy Performance Report Icon.
